Hematoid Quartz Crystal
Hematoid Quartz Crystal
Hematoid Quartz is in the Triclinic Crystal System in the mineral class of Silicates. Hematoid Quartz contains Hematite and/or Limonite inclusions. These inclusions can show themselves as small dark brown or red-brown stars, streaks or clouds within the Quartz.
It is also known as Harlequin Quartz, Specularite Quartz, Fire Quartz & in German, Eisenkiesel. It is correctly identified geologically as Ferruginous Quartz. Ferruginous means that it contains iron oxides which are the main makeup of both Hematite & Limotite.
The color varies between yellow, orange, red, and brown tones of different intensities. The crystals can show patchy coloration, with different colors contained in one crystal. Specimens are usually translucent to almost opaque, but never transparent.
Inclusions of other minerals influence the growth pattern of the crystals, though specimens usually develop a very simple crystal form. Typical specimen are short-prismatic, pseudo-hexagonal crystals without any accessorial crystal face.
Containing properties of both Quartz & Hematite, Hematoid Quartz is a highly energetic crystal that may assist in removing negativity, transforming such energy into tranquility, clarity, & positive light. The combination of Quartz & Hematite may promote balance of body, mind & spirit. It is said to bring clarity & understanding to the difference between unconscious reactions & conscious responses.
