Emberlite Tumbles
Emberlite Tumbles
Emberlite or Yooperlite are trademark names for Syenite rock with inclusions of fluorescent Sodalite, brought to public attention when specimens were discovered around Lake Michigan. The name Yooperlite is the intellectual property of Erik Rintamaki of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula & refers to pieces found by Rintamaki; however the name has grown in popularity & stones found in other areas around the world are being called Yooperlites as well. The correct name is Sodalite-rich Syenite.
Syenite is an intrusive igneous rock with a course granular internal structure and a general composition similar to that of granite, but with very low concentrations of Quartz. Sodalite is a rich royal blue colored mineral, first discovered in 1806. It fluoresces underneath ultraviolet light. Fluorescence in a nutshell is where the stone absorbs the electromagnetic radiation & then emits it at a longer wavelength, which is why it appears fiery orange in the case of sodalite. The fiery orange fluorescence is best seen utilizing a 365nm UV light.
Emberlite is said to have metaphysical properties that may help promote clarity & understanding, assisting in the ability "to see the truth". Emberlite may also encourage strength during times of change or upheaval. Emberlite may be used to attract positive energy or offer protection from negative energy.
