Chinese Painting Jasper Cabochon
Chinese Painting Jasper Cabochon
Chinese Picture Jasper, also known as Chinese Painting Stone, is composed of petrified mud or silts from ancient lakes & river beds found in the mountains of China. They form in much the same way as Jaspers do but generally without silica. The patterns & colors in this stone are naturally embedded in the rock during their formation thousands or millions of years ago. The colors & patterns are completely natural. They have not been painted or etched.
The unique coloring comes from minerals within the matrix, such as iron, which yields reds, yellows, oranges or manganese, which produces grays, blacks & the formation of dendrites are superficial deposits of manganese oxide that crystallize into treelike patterns. Because of the treelike features, these dendritic mineral patterns are sometimes so amazing that they have often been mistaken for fossil plants.
Many say they resemble Chinese paintings; however it is the reverse, Chinese paintings imitate the beauty found in these stones.
Chinese Picture Jasper is a landscape stone believed to help one find a place in the world. It is thought to encourage taking time & space alone to sort through life's concerns. This stone may aid inner silence & strengthen recall of early memories to understand & process.
Among practitioners of gemstone healing, this is a powerful grounding stone that promotes connection to the earth. This stone is considered a direct message from the Earth itself, instilling a sense of proportion, bringing comfort, alleviating fear & cultivating harmony.
