Bronzite Tumble Sampler
Bronzite Tumble Sampler
Bronzite belongs to the mineral group known as pyroxene, & is a silicate compound of magnesium. An iron-bearing variety of Enstatite, it displays a metallic luster when polished.
The crystal system is orthorhombic, meaning it has three unequal axes at right angles. Found all over the world, Bronzite can be found in igneous rocks & has even been discovered in meteorites.
The high amount of iron (up to 20%) is what distinguishes it from its relatives. From a distance, Bronzite can resemble Brown Tiger’s Eye, or even a piece of metal, but the stone’s surface reveals a rock freckled with brown, gold, & black patches of iron & hematite.
There is very little specific history associated with this stone, most likely due to its overall abundance & that it appears rather mundane when not polished. However, when it is polished, Bronzite reveals its true beauty showing off not only chatoyancy ( an optical reflectance effect) but bright golden flecks as well.
The Ancient Egyptians, who were big believers in the spiritual & other-worldly elements, used Bronzite in rituals, believing it assisted communication with the gods. The Romans used powdered Bronzite as a protector against confusion & mental illness. Bronzite was also utilized in medieval times to fortify the nerves. During the Victorian era, Bronzite was a popular gemstone for mourning jewelry. It was believed to offer comfort to those who were grieving.
Because it is found in celestial objects, Bronzite brings with it courage in the face of change. As a stone of grounding, it may provide comfort & reassurance when times are shifting & uncertain.
Bronzite is known as the Stone of Courtesy. It is considered a powerhouse when it comes to protection, deflecting negative energy & providing clarity.
