Batik Jasper Tumbles
Batik Jasper Tumbles
Batik Jasper is a beautiful opaque Chalcedony with a complex color mix of grays, browns, yellows, reds, black & green. Found in Indonesia, it is named for its resemblance to the Batik patterns created on fabric through ancient techniques.
The complexity of patterns & colors are caused by mineral inclusions within the stone.
The stones are modified by the diffusion of these minerals along discontinuities, with the original materials often fractured or distorted into beautiful patterns. Weathering, along with time, create uniquely colorful surfaces as well as similar patterns from one stone to another.
The word jasper comes from the Greek word iaspi, meaning spotted stone.
Jasper is a gemstone that has been used all over the world. The ancient priests of Egypt carved Jasper into beautiful jewelry while the Minoans used Jasper for seals.
While all Jaspers are considered powerful healing stones, Batik Jasper's swirl of colors promote a sense of integration & focus on the present. It is a stone of gentleness & relaxation, & is said to assist with calming worried minds & alleviating stress, particularly about the future or past. It is believed to be advantageous to meditation by deepening the experience.
