Banded Agate Cabochon

Banded Agate is most commonly found as nodules within cavities of volcanic rock. These cavities are formed from gases trapped within the liquid volcanic material forming vesicles. These cavities are filled with silica-rich fluids & layers are deposited on the walls, slowly working their way inwards. Variations in the character of the solution or in the conditions of deposition may cause a corresponding variation in successive layers. These variations result in bands of chalcedony, alternating with layers of crystalline quartz to form Banded Agate.

Considered a great stone for healing mind, body, and soul, it is used for protection, security, and moral stability. It is also considered a helping stone for emotional stability by providing protection from negative energy and thoughts.
